A charming miniature pendant inspired by the fascinus — the divine winged phallus of the ancient world. A tiny sculptural figure hangs from a waxed cotton cord, echoing the simple, graphic language of ancient Greek black-figure pottery.
The fascinus was one of the ancient world’s most widely used apotropaic symbols, worn as a protective amulet against the evil eye. Soldiers carried it into battle, children wore it around their necks, and fascina were hung above doorways to protect homes. In antiquity, it was not considered obscene — it was considered divine, powerful, and protective.
We reshaped this ancient symbol as a small piece of wearable pottery sculpture: playful, unexpected, and unmistakably Macabre Gadgets.
