A charming miniature pendant featuring a tiny terracotta foot in a talaria sandal, fixed to a sterling silver chain. Echoing ancient Greek black-figure ceramics, this piece is inspired by both Ancient Greek pottery and mythology.

Talaria — the winged sandals of Hermes — were legendary objects that swiftly transported the god across the earth and sea even into the Underworld. They were also given to Perseus during his quest to kill Medusa.

Foot-shaped vessels were not an unusual design in Ancient Greek pottery, alongside vessels shaped like animal heads and other body parts. Each had its own meaning and purpose. Foot-shaped vessels often held perfumed oils or strigil cleansing liquids used by runners and wrestlers in the gymnasium.

Each pendant is individually handcrafted. Natural variations in the marble mean no two pieces share the exact same surface pattern or texture.
