About Macabre Gadgets

Macabre Gadgets is a gothic jewelry brand founded in 2012 creating handcrafted sculptural and mythological jewelry in marble, sterling silver, and pearls, inspired by art, nature, and antiquity.

Fragments of myth crafted by hand

Jewelry is one of the oldest human crafts—passed from hand to hand across centuries, long before automation or mass production. This craft seems like one of the last strongholds of human made objects - near-tactile, hand to hand interaction of human beings through space and time. That's how we like to think when creating every Macabre Gadgets piece.

The name reflects this duality.

“Macabre” refers to the natural presence of darkness in life—something eerie, fragile, and deeply human. “Gadgets” introduces a contrast: modernity, precision, and the idea of an object designed for a contemporary individual. Together, they define a balance between the ancient and the modern, the organic and the engineered.

Craft and Process

Every Macabre Gadgets piece begins long before it is being crafted.

Each collection is developed through ongoing research into visual languages, mythology, and historical references. This process shapes the foundation of every design - ensuring that each object carries context as well as form and existing as both wearable art and sculptural jewelry.

From there, the piece is shaped by hand.

Initial forms are sculpted in clay or wax, refined into balanced compositions, and then brought into their final state through traditional and modern techniques.

All pieces are individually handcrafted in the studio by one of three artisans behind Macabre Gadgets. There is no mass production. Each object passes through a complete cycle of making—from raw material to finished piece—resulting in subtle variations and a distinct tactile presence.

Run by a close-knit team of three artisan designers, our studio is fully self-contained — every piece you see is imagined, designed, sculpted, and photographed in-house.

More than a brand, Macabre Gadgets is a vision—intensely personal, artistically driven, and proudly human made.

Materials

Macabre Gadgets primarily works with:

- Sterling silver (925)

- Gold

- Marble

- Natural gemstones

- Vegan pearls

Each material is selected for its beauty, wearability, and integrity. Marble jewelry instantly links us to classical sculpture, while sterling silver jewelry provides base, structure and contrast. Elements of pearl jewelry add softness within sculptural compositions.

The combination results in handcrafted jewelry that feels both timeless and contemporary—objects that exist between wearable art and functional design.

Aesthetic and Themes

The visual language of Macabre Gadgets is often described as gothic jewelry, though it extends into mythological jewelry and sculptural design.

The work explores the tension between opposing forces—beauty and decay, desire and mortality, the classical and the experimental. This ongoing dialogue reflects the idea of Eros and Thanatos: creation and dissolution existing simultaneously.

Natural forms such as skulls, birds, and insects appear throughout the collections, alongside references to fine art and mythology.

The result is a body of work that moves between decorative object and sculptural jewelry.

Collections

Over time, Macabre Gadgets has developed multiple thematic collections, each exploring a different visual and cultural direction:

- SIREN — ocean inspired jewelry featuring marine forms, seashells, and pearl elements. Discover 'Siren' collection.

- DREAMS — influenced by Japanese art, folklore, and mythology

- STORM — rooted in 18th-century aesthetics, combining rococo elegance with themes of witchcraft

- VAMPIRE — drawing from medieval art and architecture through a gothic lens

- GHOST — a melancholic, rococo-inspired collection blending softness with subtle macabre elements

- THEA — a line of mythological jewelry inspired by classical Greek and Roman sculpture

THEA — Classical Mythology Line

THEA is a distinct and ongoing line within Macabre Gadgets, focused on classical antiquity.

Inspired by Ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, each piece is conceived as a fragment—an artifact shaped by time and reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Marble sculpture jewelry plays a central role in this line, translating classical forms into wearable objects.

Rather than reproducing historical works, THEA translates their essence: proportion, texture, and the enduring presence of the human form.

Recognition

Since its founding, Macabre Gadgets has been presented internationally and featured in leading publications.

The brand has appeared at fashion weeks in Paris, Milan, and Shanghai, and has been published in titles including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, Numéro, and L'Officiel.

Its work has been worn by Diane Pernet, Adam Lambert, Whoopi Goldberg, Kat Von D, Pierre Niney, Vittoria Ceretti, and others.

Macabre Gadgets has also developed a strong global audience online, with a growing community across social platforms.

Wearable Objects

Macabre Gadgets does not approach jewelry as simple adornment.

Each piece is conceived as an object—something that holds weight, presence, and meaning. Rings, pendants, brooches, crowns, and body jewelry are treated not only as accessories, but as forms that interact with the body and the person wearing them.

The result is a collection of handcrafted sculptural jewelry that exists between past and present—shaped by history, mythology, and art, but intended for contemporary life.
