The Minotaur ring by Macabre Gadgets is a handcrafted mythological marble ring with gold-plated sterling silver detail, inspired by Greek mythology and Ancient Greek pottery — capturing the presence of the Minotaur, half-human half-animal,
The Minotaur — Asterion — was the son of Pasiphae, queen of Crete, and the sacred bull of Poseidon. Born of divine punishment and human transgression, he was imprisoned in the Labyrinth built by Daedalus beneath the palace of Knossos, fed on tribute from Athens, and slain by the hero Theseus with the help of Ariadne’s thread. He is one of the most haunting figures in Greek mythology: monstrous by birth, tragic by circumstance, neither fully human nor fully divine.
This Greek mythology marble ring captures his likeness as from the ancient amphorae or rhyta — the face of the Minotaur, haunting, like a piece of a classical pottery left for us to admire thousands years later. Decorated with 24K gold-plated details this Minotaur ring reflects the visual language of classical antiquity — decorative in presence but practical. It appears as something unearthed rather than newly made.
Handcrafted in bonded marble the ring combines traditional techniques with contemporary materials, achieving the effect of an ancient artifact worn on the hand. The contrast between stone and metal gives the piece weight and a distinct sculptural presence.
Each ring is individually handcrafted. Natural variations in the marble mean no two pieces share the exact same surface pattern or texture.
