The Medea Ring by Macabre Gadgets is a heavy sculptural signet ring in solid sterling silver and marble — a handcrafted mythological ring inspired by Ancient Greek tragedy, classical sculpture, and the figure of Medea.

An ancient artefact and a cutting-edge object at the same time, as though classical Greek craft had been carried forward into the future without losing any of its original charge. This ring is her portrait at the moment she committed her revenge — the moment she became her true self: unearthly half-goddess, a powerful witch waiting to be carried away by the chariot of dragons.

At the centre: her face in marble. Hand-sculpted with extraordinary attention to detail — the veil caught in violent wind, its stone folds sculpted with the precision of ancient masonry, fabric frozen mid-motion as though the air itself is responding to what she has just done. Her face holds both beauty and fury. She wears a coronet engraved with moon phases — a crown not of royalty but of divine origin.

Holding her on the heavy silver band: two ram skulls. The ram was one of the primary sacrificial animals of Ancient Greece and Rome, a symbol of Zeus, and the creature bound to the myth that brought Medea into the world — the Golden Fleece, Jason’s quest, the beginning of everything.

The band itself is architectural and sculptural in weight and presence. On the inside — hidden against the skin — a half sun with rays of light and a crescent moon carved in sterling silver: Helios, her grandfather and the sun god; Hecate, goddess of witchcraft and the night. The two forces that shaped her.

Medea — granddaughter of Helios, niece of Circe, priestess of Hecate — remains one of the most complex figures in Greek mythology. A sorceress, a betrayed woman, a force no hero could ultimately control. Euripides’ Medea, written in 431 BC, remains one of the most performed Greek tragedies in the world.
